The alarm rings and it is time to get up for school. You think “Do I have to? I don’t want to go to school! School is just so hard!” You feel so misunderstood at school. People are bullies and start drama all the time. You like some of your classes and teachers. You have a few friends but want more yet you are fearful of approaching others out of fear of rejection. Homework isn’t fun but that is just the way it is, and you do it. When you get home, you are faced with siblings who drive you nuts and that you don’t see eye to eye with. You and your siblings argue which leads to being grounded. You and your parents talk some, but you feel that they just don’t understand and want you to do things that they want and not what you want. You are worried about getting into a good college and having a good job. You just want to grow up NOW! You want to talk to someone about your stress and sadness yet who can you trust?
You have come to the right place! We have therapists here who can help you through individual and/or family therapy sessions. Sessions will allow you a safe and confidential place to talk about your concerns, frustrations, fears, feelings, and anything else that you want to talk about. Your confidentiality is very important to us! If you are 14 years or older, we must have your permission through a signed release of information documenting what we may share with your parents or someone else. If you are younger than 14 years old, we can discuss with your parents an overview of your sessions and progress in therapy. We will process with you what we will be discussing with your parents. Please know, we want you to be able to be comfortable talking about your thoughts and feelings in sessions. You are in charge of your sessions and are encouraged to express yourself openly and honestly without being worried about what you say.
